About the role Our client is leading a bold transformation, building a digital-first echo system that ensures equity, security, and accessibility for all. As a Senior DBA, you’ll play a crucial role in managing, securing, and optimising databases that support nationwide services.

Responsibilities- As a Senior DBA, you will oversee critical SQL database environments – installation, upgrades, optimisation, and security.
- Ensure data security and privacy – applying best practices in compliance with NZ’s data regulations.
- Collaborate across teams – supporting projects that improve patient care through data-driven solutions.
- Monitor performance & drive improvements – tuning databases for high availability and efficiency.
- Lead innovation – contribute to database roadmaps and future-proofing strategies.
- Support digital transformation – enabling seamless integration of databases into cloud and hybrid environments.
What you need?- 5+ years of experience in SQL database administration (MSSQL preferred).
- Expertise in performance tuning, disaster recovery, and database design.
- Strong understanding of data security, encryption, and privacy regulations.
- Proficiency in SQL scripting and automation (PowerShell, T-SQL).
- Ability to collaborate in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience working with cloud-based databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a plus
This contract position is until end of
June 2025 with a likely extension. We will consider applications from AKL, WLG, CHCH and Wellington for this position. All applicants must have existing working rights (valid visa, residency or citizenship).
